Bahrain’s prominent Shia cleric, Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassem lashed out at Al Khalifa regime over hosting an economic conference ahead of announcing US President Donald Trump’s so-called ‘deal of century’.
“The deal f century is a deal of shame which is based on bargaining with people, land, holy sites, religion and unity of our nation,” Ayatollah Qassem said in a statement released on Monday.
“The deal of century has one party: Trump and Israel along with their collaborators from Arab regimes.”
Ayatollah Qassem described the ‘deal of century’ as a “crime whose disgrace afflicts all those who support it,” noting that such deal is aimed against the Palestinian cause.
His eminence meanwhile, stressed that the deal is “doomed to fail thanks to determination of this nation’s people who are well aware of such scheme.”
The Manama conference is to take place on June 25-26. The White House announced earlier last week it will unveil the first phase of its so-called Mideast peace plan at the conference in Manama, saying it “will focus on economic benefits that could be reaped if the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is resolved.”
